Kate grew up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. After graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy, she made her way west to Utah and then on to Montana where she lived for close to a decade. Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health from Montana State University. Throughout her career, she has worked in health promotion, exercise and wellness as well as in rehab therapy settings with individuals with chronic conditions. When she returned to Vermont in 2005, she started her career in public health and continued in this field for 10 years. During these years in the public health sector, she provided outreach and education on population-based health programs and worked collaboratively with the medical community to implement them. As the public health field merged with land-use planning disciplines, she developed skills in community organizing, development and regional and municipal planning, particularly as they related to healthy community planning and design. Kate volunteers her time in her community and on her local planning commission, she also loves the mountains and enjoys hiking and riding bikes and spending time with her eight year old son.
